UNUSUAL BLUE & WHITE CANOVIAN STATUES PATTERN STAND c1830

£185.00

SKU: 1670

This unusual English Blue & Whit Transfer Printed Stand, dating from circa 1830, bears the Pattern Name ‘Canovian Statues’ to the base with the Maker’s Mark H.B. & Co beneath.

This could either be the Mark for Harvey, Bailey & Co, Lane End, Staffordshire Potteries (1833-5) or Henry Brown & Co of High Street, Lane End, Staffordshire Potteries (1828-1830).

The Pattern would seem to have been inspired by the much-celebrated Italian Sculpture Antonio Canova (1757-1822) who spent some time in Britain.

The potting of the Stand is quite sophisticated with very smooth, liquid glaze and a well-formed foot rim.

There are some minor grazes to the edge and some nicks to the foot rim.  There is no restoration.

Width:  15 inches (38 cm)

Express Delivery within Mainland UK is included.  We are happy to quote for Overseas Shipping on request.
