This interesting Pair of Frames Paintings show the Four Masted Barque ‘Carradale’ in Full Sail and with Furled Sails in a rough sea.

The Carradale was built by  Alexander Stephens & Sons, Glasgow in 1889 for J. & A. Roxburgh, Glasgow Ship Brokers.

The paintings, which date from around 1910, are behind glass in contemporary Edwardian frames.  They have not been recently reframed.

There are some old repairs which can be seen in the photographs.
