JONES & WALLEY ‘GIPSEY’ RELIEF MOULDED JUG c1850
£165.00
This well-detailed Victorian Relief Moulded Stoneware Jug was made at the Villa Pottery, Cobridge by Jones & WALLEY around 1850.
The base bears an impressed, applied cartouche with the details: Published July 1, 1849 by Jones & Wallley, Cobridge. GIPSEY 24.
This short-lived Factory specialised in Relief Moulded Stoneware Jugs.
The details of the GIPSEY Encampment on this Jug are notable. One side shows a Mother and 2 children within a tent, alongside a dog, 2 gentlemen and a barrel of ale. The other shows a cauldron hanging over an open fire.
The condition is good. There is a tiny, thin sliver of old restoration to the inside lip.
