Dating from the second half of the 19th Century, his Boxwood and Ebony JAQUES Staunton Weighted Chess Set comes in a Mahogany Box with a paper label inside. The White Knight is stamped Jaques, London and both Black and White Castles and Black and White Knights are stamped with a Red Crown. All pieces are baized,
The Box has been fitted with a new bottom at some time during its life. All of the pieces are in unrestored condition. Their overall condition is good.
The White King has a chip to the cross. One White Castle has a tiny chip to the crenallation. One White bishop has a small chip to the top.
The Black King is missing the cross on the top. There is a small chip to the Crown of the Black Queen and a crack to the base. The Black Bishop is missing the ball on the top and there is a crack to the base. There is a tiny chip to the back of one ear of a Black Knight. One Black Pawn has a chip to the collar and a crack to the base. Another Black Pawn has a crack to the base.
