This unusual decorated metal Deed Box stamped Hobbs & Co London dates from circa 1860.  It is intricately painted to imitate Burr Walnut a favourite timber of the Victorians.  It has the original brass carrying handles and decorative metal corners.

The inside has two fitted removable trays and a lockable document enveloped within the lid for which there is a key.  There is no key for the outside lock.

The Deed Box is in overall good condition with the expected wear of a travelling case.
