This charming Painted Brass Fireside Companion, modelled as the eponymous Crinoline Lady, dates from circa 1920.

It bears the mark of Crofts & Assinder of Birmingham and the Design Registration No Rd844436.

The Companion is fitted behind with a brass cylinder for holding fire irons such as a poker and tongs but could also be used for holding flowers. It stands firmly.

The skilled, painted decoration seems original.
