FINE ENGLISH LEATHER LETTER BOX c1875

This very good quality English Leather Letter Box dates from circa 1875.

It has two apertures for letters, each side of the handle, which are titled, in embossed gilt, ANSWERED and UNANSWERED.

The brass lock is stamped J.T. Needs 6 Down Street, Piccadilly, late BRAMAH 128 Piccadilly.  The teeth of this lock have been cut at some time, presumably as the key was lost and BRAMAH locks being virtually unpickable.

The Box is in good, original condition.  The leather has matured well.
